Westcoast Softball Success Stories Westcoast Softball is proud of every one of its athletes. Each of them dedicate many hours to learning and improving their softball skills. On occasion, some of our athletes achieve exceptional levels of play. Westcoast Softball is proud to showcase some of our stars. Congratulations to the featured athletes and to all the “up and comers” who are striving to reach the pinnacle of their ability. Courtenay Cronin Courtenay pitches for Delta Heat 90 and led her team to win the Pee Wee Nationals in 2004. Courtenay was selected as the Defensive Player of the Game in the Gold Medal final. Courtenay has been a Westcoast Softball member for over four years and has participated in group lessons, private lessons and many Westcoast clinics. Congratulations Courtenay, we know you’ll star for years to come. Hayley Bettles As the cornerstone of the Surrey Storm 90 team, Hayley led her team to a silver medal at the 2004 National Pee Wee Championships. In recognition of her skill, hard work and determination, Hayley was selected as MVP of the tournament. Westcoast Softball is proud to have had Hayley as a member for the last four years. Hayley attends regular group sessions, private lessons, clinics and camps to maintain and improve her pitching skills. Hayley, it is nice to see that your hard work has brought you success, keep it up! 89 Westcoast Selects Strike Silver As one of the travel teams organized by Westcoast Softball to play in the off season, the 89 Westcoast Selects traveled to Las Vegas in October 2004 and played in a 22 team tournament. Having fun did not stop the 89 Selects from working hard and demonstrating both defensive and offensive skills. Congratulations on bringing the Silver Medals back to Westcoast. Determination and desire helped this Westcoast team meld into a force that surprised the American teams. 90 WESTCOAST TEAM RUNNER UP IN DISNEY PRESIDENTS DAY CLASSIC IN FLORIDA The U14 division was shocked when this gritty team from Canada fought some extremely tight battles game after game and emerged with a silver medal after the top rated Shamrocks from Virginia finally broke a 0-0 game in the 7th inning giving the Westcoast team a heartbreaking 0-1 loss. Congratulations to team members Courtney Cronin, Hayley Bettles, Nicole Day, Emilee Pittman, Katelyn McBeth, Megan Holmes, Danica Anderson, Step Monk, Marrisa Angus, Lauren Shannik 89 WESTCOAST TEAM Playing as a younger team in the very competitive U16 Division this amazing team went undefeated in entire tournmanent until a very tough team from Washington DC scored two runs in the 7th inning to advance to Gold Medal round leaving the 89's with a well deserved Bronze Medal for 3rd place overall. Team members Chelsey Rogers, Cassidy Lee, Lyndsay Cook, Katie Erickson, Taryn Mann, Kara Imai, Dani Korven, Courtney Mienkina, Brittany Mayers, Molly Mummary and Michelle Smith definitely made Westcoast proud! In between all that hard work the girls had a different kind of ball visiting all the attractions Orlando had to offer. | |||||||||||||||
